The Edmond and Mary Regina Lynch Scholarship was established in 2014 though the generosity of Mary Lynch in memory of her husband, Edmond “Ted” Lynch in gratitude of the training Mr. Lynch received at the School of Medical Imaging. This scholarship is a special opportunity to provide professional growth and financial assistance to applicants.
Applicants must be currently enrolled in the Johns Hopkins Schools of Medical Imaging to qualify. The recipient will be chosen by the Lynch Scholarship Selection Committee based on their application packet, including grades, an essay, a letter of recommendation, and a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form demonstrating financial need. A summary of the evaluation criteria for the essay may be found here.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate academic ability and achievement, financial need, persistence and a desire to help others. The award will pay the student’s tuition directly to the School of Medical Imaging in four equal payments throughout the 18-month program period. Preference will be given to applicants currently employed by Johns Hopkins.
Applications are due by Friday, May 31st, 2024 and may be submitted through the form below:

Ted Lynch graduated from the Johns Hopkins School of X-ray Technology, the forerunner of the School of Medical Imaging, in 1941. After one year at the school, Ted was recruited into the military and served with a Johns Hopkins medical unit in the South Pacific islands. After his military service, Ted worked at the Johns Hopkins Hospital as an X-ray Technician with faculty member, Webster Brown, M.D., until Dr. Brown’s retirement. Ted then worked in the Department of Radiology at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore until his own retirement. In 1982, Ted was the first person to be inducted into the Maryland Society of Radiologic Technologists hall of fame. The Lynchs were married for 28 years, before Ted passed away in 1992 at the age of 79. Ted had a wonderful reputation for meticulousness, kindness, and patient focus. His colleagues and patients were uniformly appreciative of his compassion and exceptional care.
The Edmond and Mary Regina Lynch Scholarship is in gratitude of the training Mr. Lynch received at the School of Medical Imaging. Because of the Lynchs’ commitment to the profession and our institution, future generations will benefit from excellent training as they prepare for careers in our field.
