Applying for Admission

Johns Hopkins Schools of Medical Imaging offers three programs including Radiography, Nuclear Medicine Technology and Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Applicants may apply to more than one program.

Begin by choosing the program(s) you are interested in applying to and follow the application instructions.
 

Radiography

  • The following prerequisite courses are required for all applicants and must be completed at a regionally accredited institution with a grade of C or better. In addition, the combined grade point average of all prerequisite coursework must average to be 3.0 or better. Please use our spreadsheet to determine your eligibility for this program.
    • Human Anatomy & Physiology I (4 credit course with lab)
    • Human Anatomy & Physiology II (4 credit course with lab)
    • English Composition (3 credit course)
    • College Algebra (3 credit course)
    • Interpersonal Communications or Speech (3 credit course)
  • Please contact the program director if the course you have taken or that is offered at your institution does not exactly match these course titles to verify they meet our requirements.
  • Applicants must have a minimum of a two year associate’s degree.

  • Be a citizen of the United States of America, or a permanent resident (hold a green card)
  • Be 18 years old at the time of matriculation
  • A non-refundable application fee of $40
  • Two letters of recommendation using the provided form.
    • One from a college science or math instructor
    • One from your present employer
  • Transcripts documenting all post high school education. Foreign transcripts must be evaluated by one of the agencies in the United States that performs academic credential evaluations
  • If you are not completing a degree with one of our affiliated colleges or universities, you must have a minimum of an associate’s degree completed before the June start date of the program.

  • Please complete the application with required documents by December 31 and email to the program director listed in the application form.

 

Diagnostic Medical Sonography

  • The following prerequisite courses are required for all applicants and must be completed at a regionally accredited institution with a grade of C or better. In addition, the combined grade point average of all prerequisite coursework must average to be 3.0 or better. Please use our spreadsheet to determine your eligibility for this program.
    • Human Anatomy & Physiology I (4 credit course with laboratory)
    • Human Anatomy & Physiology II (4 credit course with laboratory)
    • Physics for science (4 credit course with lab)
    • College Algebra (3 credit course)
    • Medical Terminology (3 credit course)
    • Interpersonal Communication or Speech (3 credit course)
    • Psychology (3 credit course)
    • Statistics (3 credit course)

  • Applicants must have a minimum of a two year associate’s degree.

  • Personal Statement Essay (500-750 words) indicating why you wish to pursue a career in the field of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • Transcripts documenting all post high school education. Foreign transcripts must be evaluated by one of the agencies in the United States that performs academic credential evaluations
  • If you are not completing a degree with one of our affiliated colleges or universities, you must have a minimum of an associate’s degree completed before the June start date of the program.

Nuclear Medicine Technology

    • College Chemistry (4 credit course with lab)

    • Medical Terminology (3 credit course)

*Note: The applicants that are certified in a clinical health care specialty must request a recommendation from the Program Director of your specialty training course and a recommendation from your current employer.
